Job summary

CTA seeks a senior level technician to support equipment engineers in designing, inspecting, and rehabilitating rail cars. The role involves field travel to plant sites, reviewing specifications, and ensuring adherence to requirements during construction or overhaul.

You will prepare and interpret specs, perform inspections, and contribute to problem solving with vendors and CTA staff. A high school diploma, 3 years' rail/bus repair, and a valid IL driver's license are required; drug testing is

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of three years’ verifiable bus or rail car repair experience.
Valid State of Illinois driver’s license required.
Drug and alcohol testing required per Federal Transportation Administration.

Responsibilities

Inspects rail cars and equipment at vendor facilities to verify conformance with specifications.
Conducts quality audits and final inspections before dispatch to CTA.
Communicates with vendors, Site Manager, and CTA Equipment Engineers to resolve issues.
Assists in drafting specifications for passenger vehicles and major subsystems.
Performs senior level troubleshooting and repairs as needed.
