Under the direction of the Associate Radiation Safety Officer, UCLA Health is seeking a Senior Radiation Safety Specialist to support our Westwood, West Valley, and Santa Monica Medical Centers, as well as the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital.
In this critical role, you will serve as a subject matter expert on radiation safety for UCLA Health and EHS professionals. Your responsibilities will include monitoring the use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment such as lasers and MRI machines, conducting routine audits of laboratories, nuclear medicine, and radiation oncology departments, and implementing our dosimetry program. You will also lead radiation safety training sessions and assist medical staff in the therapeutic use of sealed and unsealed radioactive materials.
This position ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations governing the use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct audits of radiation use areas to ensure safety and regulatory compliance
Oversee dosimetry program and ensure accurate exposure monitoring
Facilitate and deliver training for staff on radiation safety practices
Provide support during therapeutic procedures involving radioactive materials
Collaborate with departments using lasers, MRIs, and other radiation equipment
Maintain documentation and reports in accordance with regulatory requirements

Salary Range: $76,200-158,800/year
