Job summary

Saab, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team to develop complex electronic surveillance systems for commercial and government customers. This role is located at our East Syracuse, NY, office.

The successful candidate will lead top-level design, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, develop specifications, and support proposals while balancing risks, costs, and schedules. Domestic and international travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in safety-critical industries (e.g., aerospace, defense/military, medical, nuclear, etc.).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form productive relationships within a team.
• Demonstrated proficiency with electromechanical and/or embedded software systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Experience with requirements management, system design, and system integration.
• Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
• Domestic and international travel may be required, typically less than 2 weeks per year.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigation and top-level design for new feature development and change requests from both internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead development of primary and secondary radar products which provide safety-critical surveillance throughout the world
• Develop and maintain specifications and technical documentation to support customer deliverables and internal systems engineering processes.
• Balance competing interests from multiple stakeholder groups
• Coordinate with product development management to ensure technical, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved while maintaining acceptable levels of risk.
• Develop and propose new technologies and capabilities to enhance product performance
• Support technical and cost proposal preparation for future programs.
