Saab, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team in East Syracuse, NY, developing complex electronic surveillance systems for government and commercial customers.

Lead design for feature development, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure risk-managed execution. The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering/physics/math and 7+ years in safety-critical industries, with travel up to two weeks annually.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in safety-critical industries (e.g., aerospace, defense/military, medical, nuclear, etc).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form productive relationships within a team.
• Demonstrated proficiency with electromechanical and/or embedded software systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Experience with requirements management, system design, and system integration.
• Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
• Domestic and international travel may be required, typically less than 2 weeks per year.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigation and top-level design for new feature development and change requests from both internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead development of primary and secondary radar products which provide safety-critical surveillance throughout the world.
• Develop and maintain specifications and technical documentation to support customer deliverables and internal systems engineering processes.
• Balance competing interests from multiple stakeholder groups.
• Coordinate with product development management to ensure technical, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved while maintaining acceptable levels of risk.
• Develop and propose new technologies and capabilities to enhance product performance.
• Support technical and cost proposal preparation for future programs.
