Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to serve as Backend Electronics Lead for a multi-mission radar system. You will lead the DREX design, coordinate with engineering teams, and drive technical maturation from architecture through production and sustainment.

The role is onsite in McKinney, TX and requires a DoD Secret clearance. Candidates should have strong RF design/testing experience and prior leadership in complex military electronics subsystems.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Prior experience with RF simulation toolsets (e.g., ADS, HFSS, SystemVue, etc.)
• Prior experience with RF testing including spectrum analyzers and network analyzers
• Technical leadership experience, including the ability to lead the resolution of tough technical challenges
• Electrical hardware design and development experience including design standard adherence
• Experience with production of new and/or significantly evolved RF and/or digital modules

Responsibilities

• Primary technical point of contact and responsible engineer for development, production and sustainment activities for designated DREX within the MFRFS Product Line
• Coordinate with the engineering team, product leads, chief engineer and program management on planning, execution, prioritization and execution status reporting
• Provide recommendations to the chief engineer on design improvements, technical risks and benefits, and overall technical maturation of the designated DREX
• Drive execution to resolution of technical issues associated with the DREX
• Work with the production factory team to understand the DREX build process and to assist in the optimization of the process
• Work with the cross-functional design team to complete development and integration of the next generation DREX
• Support the sustainment team and assist subject matter experts in the evaluation of repaired units to return to the field Planning and coordinating hardware design efforts
• Occasional travel opportunities may be required to support our customers at various sites.
