Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico is seeking a cleared Senior/Principal R&D Systems Engineer to support hardware qualification and testing within the Mobile Guardian Transport Electronics Engineering, Testers, and Cables group. Onsite work is required, with top-tier facilities and security clearances.

The role emphasizes multidisciplinary systems engineering, design and evaluation of new processes and test hardware, collaboration with production, and rigorous documentation.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination that demonstrates independent R&D capability.
• Active DOE Q or DOD TS clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Apply systems engineering to research, design, or develop structures, instruments, machines, experiments, processes, or technologies, and forecast their behavior.
• Initiate, design, develop, and evaluate new processes, products, or systems through basic and applied systems engineering research.
• Work closely with the Production Agency for product realization.
• Identify and mitigate requirements, design, and manufacturing challenges in partnership with subsystem teams and sponsor needs.
• Prepare test, maintenance, operations, calibration and administrative procedures for hazardous facilities.
• Own, monitor, and ensure technical excellence of contracts and contracted partners on the MGT tester subsystem.
• Analyze test data and recommend alternative solutions to problems.
• Develop technical documentation such as drawings, work instructions, reports, and test plans.
• Work onsite due to the nature of the work.
