Job summary
The Sherwin-Williams Company in Greensboro, NC seeks an R&D Scientist to lead assessment, development, reformulation, and maintenance of coatings products. You will plan, execute and analyze experiments, mentor junior formulators, and collaborate with sales, quality and manufacturing to deliver technically differentiating solutions.
You will work with solvent-borne coatings, stage-gate processes, ISO procedures, and safety policies while driving projects of high complexity and ensuring economic
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science/Engineering/Mathematics required.
- 8+ years of coatings formulation experience.
- Experience with solvent borne coatings formulation.
- Application and troubleshooting of OEM coatings.
- Understanding solvent based product end use and customer processes.
- Familiarity with ASTM, KCMA, BIFMA, WDMA, and AAMA performance testing.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple technically complex projects without supervision.
- Mentor less experienced formulators and share knowledge.
- Interface with sales, marketing, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure product flow and support for customers.
- Develop new/innovative coating products and reformulations to differentiate offerings.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and document calibration and processes.
- Adhere to ISO procedures and safety policies.
