Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five years of directly relevant experience or equivalent
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-Level clearance
• Graduate degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is preferred
• Experience with nuclear safety analyses and cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Independently review detailed technical documents related to electrical design and testing for nuclear safety
• Engage with weapon system, component design, assurance, and other surety organizations
• Maintain awareness of design, development, production, maintenance and dismantlement of weapon systems, particularly electrical domains
• Assess tests, materials and components for adequacy against requirements with emphasis on electrical testing
• Lead independent safety assessments of nuclear weapon systems and components under various environments
• Develop technical approaches using methods like fault-tree analysis and FMEA
• Design experiments or simulations to evaluate safety-critical subsystems
• Mentor junior engineers in safety-analysis techniques and review deliverables
• Communicate findings in technical reports and executive briefs
