Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an experienced Cleared Senior/Principal R&D Mechanical Engineer for the W80-5 Systems. This on-site role requires work in NM/CA and may involve up to 25% travel.

The engineer will support mechanical design activities and collaborate across the System Engineering team to refine requirements and validate designs. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree with five years of directly relevant experience and an active DOE Q-level security clearance (or

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
• Five years of directly relevant experience.
• Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent DOD Top Secret level clearance.
• Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience with system engineering processes and ND systems/subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Present at technical design reviews and programmatic meetings.
• Develop key elements of the W80-5 system level design.
• Refine and verify requirements with the systems engineering team.
• Plan and execute development and characterization tests for the system mechanical design.
• Perform trade studies and make key decisions based on performance, cost, and schedule.
• Partner with production agencies for realization of mechanical products.
