Responsible Manager: Director of Metals Technology

We, EOS – world market leader for industrial 3D printing, are looking for you to support our R&D Metals Team as a Senior R&D Engineer. In this role, you will develop and optimize laser-based processes for metallic materials using modeling, simulation, and experimental testing. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, manage project tasks, and translate solutions into minimum viable products while documenting and presenting results to drive process improvements.

Your Mission
  • Develop, optimize, and validate process parameters for metallic materials using laser powder bed fusion technologies.
  • Assess material printability, troubleshoot build and process issues, investigate unexpected material properties or defects, and provide technical guidance on heat treatment, post-processing, and additive manufacturing feasibility.
  • Manage technical projects, work packages, schedules, risks, and deliverables while maintaining clear documentation and regular communication with stakeholders.
  • Apply modeling, simulation, and data-analysis tools to improve process understanding and support advanced parameter development.
  • Identify and implement improvements to development methods, engineering tools, internal processes, and technical best practices.
Your Talents
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in materials science, metallurgical engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing process development activities for metal additive manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of metallic materials, including solidification, phase transformations, microstructure, mechanical properties, defect formation, heat treatment, and failure mechanisms.
  • Strong project-management and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver high-quality work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to customers and colleagues with different levels of technical expertise.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. German-language skills are a plus.
