Qualifications

• 5+ years of formulating experience in paint and coatings.
• Deep knowledge of acrylics, alkyds, 2K polyurethane / polyester, and epoxy-amine chemistries.
• Direct experience with industrial, automotive aftermarket, agricultural, or marine coatings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design advanced 1K and 2K coatings to meet customer and internal specs.
• Adapt liquid coatings for aerosol delivery with propellant compatibility and spray patterns.
• Oversee testing: adhesion, weathering, corrosion/chemical resistance, color matching.
• Transition lab formulations to full-scale plant manufacturing.
• Guide and train junior laboratory chemists in formulation techniques and lab safety.

Duties

• Design advanced 1K (acrylics, alkyds) and 2K (urethane, epoxy) coatings to meet strict customer and internal specifications.
• Adapt liquid coatings for aerosol delivery, managing propellant compatibility, pressure, and spray patterns.
• Oversee comprehensive testing including adhesion, weathering (QUV), corrosion / chemical resistance, and color matching.
• Transition successful lab formulations to full-scale plant manufacturing.
• Guide and train junior laboratory chemists in formulation techniques and lab safety.

Salary

$75,000 - $95,000

Technical Qualifications

• 5+ years of formulating experience in the paint and coatings industry.
• Deep knowledge of acrylics, alkyds, 2K polyurethane / polyester, and epoxy-amine chemistries. Resin chemistry experience is a plus.
