Job summary

IonQ, Inc. in Boulder, CO or Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Senior Staff Quantum Scientist to lead experimental efforts and shape the architecture of future quantum systems.

You will drive coherent control, calibration, and benchmarking at scale on trapped-ion hardware, mentor junior scientists, and help translate research into scalable, fault-tolerant platforms with world‑leading fidelity and performance. Experience with laser-free quantum control and integration with semiconductor fabrication

Qualifications

• PhD in physics or related field with 7+ years post-PhD.
• Strong quantum control, calibration, benchmarking experience.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor scientists.

Responsibilities

• Lead experimental efforts and architecture for future quantum systems.
• Develop coherent control schemes and ultra-low error rates.
