Job summary

GlobalFoundries is seeking a Principal Engineer to advance photonic quantum technologies, spanning process development, integration, and yield improvement. You will collaborate across fabrication, device engineering, metrology, and characterization teams to accelerate development of photonic ICs and quantum devices.

The role requires 3+ years in semiconductor process integration with strong hands-on lab experience, including lithography, deposition, etch, and metrology.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related field.
• 3+ years of semiconductor process integration or photonics development.
• Experience with lithography, thin-film deposition, etch, and metrology.
• Strong problem-solving and cleanroom skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize semiconductor process modules for photonic integrated circuits and quantum photonic devices.
• Execute integration activities involving deposition, lithography, etch, metrology, and defect reduction.
• Characterize optical and material performance using process, metrology, and device characterization data.
• Identify yield limiters and process variability drivers and implement corrective actions.
• Support fabrication of optical waveguides, modulators, resonators, detectors, and integrated photonic structures.
• Collaborate with engineering and research teams to improve process capability and manufacturability.
• Support process transfer to manufacturing and pilot-line environments.
• Maintain detailed process documentation and integration records.
