Job summary

GlobalFoundries is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead process development, integration, yield improvement, and characterization for photonic quantum technologies. You will collaborate across fabrication, device engineering, metrology, and characterization teams to accelerate photonic technology development.

The role requires advanced degrees and 3+ years in semiconductor processing with hands-on lab and cleanroom experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in a related field required.
• 3+ years in semiconductor process integration, photonics process development, or advanced device fabrication.
• Experience with lithography, thin-film deposition, etch processing, and metrology.
• Experience with process control, yield analysis, SPC, DOE, or root-cause analysis.
• Strong hands-on laboratory and cleanroom experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize semiconductor process modules used for photonic integrated circuits and quantum photonic devices.
• Execute integration activities involving deposition, lithography, etch, metrology, and defect reduction.
• Characterize optical and material performance using process, metrology, and device characterization data.
• Identify yield limiters and process variability drivers and implement corrective actions.
• Support fabrication of optical waveguides, modulators, resonators, detectors, and integrated photonic structures.
• Collaborate with engineering and research teams to improve process capability and manufacturability.
• Support process transfer to manufacturing and pilot-line environments.
• Maintain detailed process documentation and integration records.
