Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial performance of major infrastructure projects. You will drive cost control, budgeting and reporting, while ensuring value for money and governance standards across the site teams.

You will collaborate with clients, supply chain partners and project teams, review tenders, negotiate subcontract packages, and mentor junior members of the commercial team. Flexible on-site/remote pattern.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
• Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB, or working towards professional qualification.
• Experience managing project costs, forecasts and commercial reporting.
• Strong understanding of contract administration and change management.
• Experience working closely with clients, supply chain partners and project teams.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing project costs, budgets, forecasts and reporting for your area of responsibility.
• Reviewing tender information and preparing activity and resource schedules.
• Negotiating subcontract packages, variations and compensation events.
• Monitoring subcontractor performance and commercial outcomes.
• Supporting the preparation of claims, delay and disruption submissions where required.
• Building strong relationships with customers, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
• Assisting with procurement strategies and programme development.
• Supporting, mentoring and developing junior members of the commercial team.
• Promoting continuous improvement, LEAN principles and digital ways of working.
