Job summary

Placements24 seeks a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial construction team in Welkom. This hybrid role manages project costs from tender to completion, including cost estimation, tendering, contract administration and financial control.

You will evaluate tenders, negotiate with subcontractors, monitor expenditures, prepare valuations and claims, and advise on cost risks to maximise profitability across high-profile commercial projects.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor in commercial construction.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software, measurements, and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents for commercial construction projects.
• Evaluate tenders, negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers, and manage contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project expenditures, track costs against budget, and prepare interim and final payment valuations and claims.
• Identify and manage cost risks and opportunities, implementing cost control measures to optimize project profitability.
• Conduct site visits to verify work progress and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to provide financial advice and ensure transparency in project finances.
