Job Description
Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Senior Quality & Safety Manager - Quality Management & External Reporting
As a Senior Quality & Safety Manager, you will support institutional quality, patient care, excellence and innovations across MSK. This role monitors, analyzes and reports quality metrics and outcomes, facilitates performance improvement and ensures the highest standard of quality of care.
This particular role has a focus on Quality Management, External Reporting and TJC and DOH regulatory requirements in order to maintain compliance with standards and external benchmarking initiatives.
Role Overview:
Partner with local leadership to conduct or provide oversight of quality audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and proactively identify areas of opportunity.
- Development of infrastructure for a standardized, quality audit program focused on high-risk, regulatory-required audits and other required audits:
- Partner with analytics on development of a centralized audit scorecard.
- Standardize processes for collection of data, review of trends and corrective action planning.
- Development of measurement strategy to determine what processes are audited, to set appropriate targets and to decide when to discontinue audit.
- Monitoring audit performance and providing support for implementation of interventions to ensure compliance.
- Dedicated focused efforts on PI and NPSG chapters for TJC.
- Stand up mortality review process to identify potential quality of care concerns and fulfill regulatory requirements. Develop Redcap form to support standardization of reviews, analysis of data and identification of concerns. Oversee implementation of performance improvement interventions informed by data.
- Support standing up sepsis committee and provide oversight for reportable sepsis events. Review of data and improvement work related to sepsis management.
- Oversight for NDNQI required metric collection, validation, analysis and corresponding QI project work:
- Work with front line leaders to conduct performance improvement activity based on NDNQI data; develop tools / templates for this work
- Contribute to quality management strategy for how metrics are overseen, targets set, project work prioritized
- Provide written responses to external agencies regarding quality and safety.
- Act as quality metric owner / steward for all falls data. Ensure adequate validation of data, develop standard process for review of trends, common cause analysis of all falls. Provide QI support for interventions to address most common reasons patients fall.
- Development of a quality rounding program - in support of high reliability journey and to ensure we proactively understand our areas of risk as defined by front-line staff.
- Support for RCAs that intersect with areas that are being audited.
- Manage 2 Quality Managers dedicated to audit oversight and analysis.
Key Qualifications:
- 7 years' of recent experience in a clinical setting or in quality & safety.
- RN (NY) License or other clinical experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of relevant safety rules and healthcare regulations including TJC and NYPORT, NJPORTS standards
- Expertise in high reliability principles and concepts preferred.
- CPHQ certification a plus.
- Familiarity with Epic and oncology population helpful.
Core Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in understanding and analyzing quality data, able to synthesize analysis and produce recommendations.
- Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage sensitive situations diplomatically and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic data management systems.

- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm
- Reporting to Director, External Quality and Safety Programs and Reporting
Pay Range: $121,400.00-$200,400.00/annually
