Job summary

Allison Transmission is seeking a Senior Quality and Reliability Engineer to implement quality policies in manufacturing and assembly. You will monitor operations quality, drive corrective actions, and lead continuous improvement efforts with cross-functional teams.

You will coordinate audits, analyze designs for reliability, and report findings with professional rigor. A strong background in SPC, PFMEA, and GD&T is required to ensure product integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in Quality Engineer or related role.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, document, and develop corrective action strategies for quality issues.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement activities and corrective actions to closure.
  • Lead and participate in quality audits (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
  • Develop reliability tests and analyze product/process designs to prevent defects.
  • Prepare professional reports on investigations, findings and results.

Job Description:

Primary Purpose of Role:

The Senior Quality and Reliability Engineer is responsible for implementing ATI quality policies and procedures in the manufacturing part fabrication and assembly environment. Activities include monitoring various elements of operations quality, problem solving to correct issues, and reporting results. This individual will exercise a high level of independent judgment using a considerable amount of creativity, initiative and determination. This individual will lead focused teams and will drive corrective action, preventative action and continuous improvement activities on a variety of tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, document, and develop corrective action strategies for internal and external quality related issues.
  • Organize, coordinate and interface with OEM’s regarding parts and transmission concerns.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement activities and corrective action activities to closure.
  • Provide professional reports on quality investigations, findings, and results.
  • Develop and/or complete plant reliability tests to analyze and solve problems.
  • Analyze product and process design to prevent and correct problems.
  • Develop, conduct, and complete required reliability, process, and product audits. Participate in IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 audits.
  • Communicate and coordinate activities with cross-functional organizations.
  • Implements and actively supports the plant and corporate safety policies and initiatives.
  • Provide a physical presence in the workplace.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to interface with customers in a professional manner to address concerns and issues.
  • Able to analyze processes and products to proactively identify areas of concern and implement countermeasures to prevent defects.
  • Ability to compile clear and concise reports and summaries of issues and present them to customers and Allison personnel.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of ATI Quality and Reliability policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of automatic transmission.
  • Knowledge of blue print reading and dimensional layout, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Gear Analyzer familiarity.
  • Knowledge of gaging techniques and applications
  • Knowledge of inspection processes and techniques
