Job summary

Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, IN, seeks an experienced Customer Integration Engineer to support OEMs and distributors in integrating Allison Off-Highway products into mining and related equipment. You’ll troubleshoot, test new features, and manage customer test programs, building strong relationships across OEMs, distributors, and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • BSME or BSEE or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of powertrain engineering experience.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work with others and cross-cultural teams.
  • Ability to generate clear and concise formal communications.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel ~30% to support customer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper application of Allison products into customer equipment and vehicles.
  • Apply vehicle and power pack design principals with integration tools to optimize installations.
  • Develop relationships with OEMs, end users, distributor network, and internal teams for effective communication.
  • Serve as the technical resource throughout the product release cycle including power pack design, testing, and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with distributors and OEMs to understand release process requirements and implement compliant plans.
  • Stay current with Allison and industry technical developments and relay regulatory or competitive information internally.
  • Communicate future products and implementation requirements to relevant departments.

Job Description:

This role in Customer Integration Engineering will be responsible for activities, in support of assigned OEMs and Allison distributors managing OEMs that design, develop and manufacture off highway mining vehicles, oil field services equipment and other off highway equipment such as trenchers, augers and log yarders that use Allison Transmission Off-Highway products. Activities will include support of OEM integration, troubleshooting and resolution of customer issues, assisting in development and testing of new features and functionality and management of customer test programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee will be responsible for ensuring proper application of Allison products into customer equipment and vehicles. Employee will apply sound vehicle and power pack design principals along with Allison developed integration tools to optimize installations and maximize value to the OEM and end-user customers.

Employee will develop relationships to ensure effective communication of all related information with OEM and end-user customers, Allison’s Distributor/Dealer network, Allison Marketing, Sales and Service organizations, and pertinent Indianapolis personnel.

Employee will be the resource for all technical aspects of Allison products. This will include activities throughout the product release cycle, including but not limited to power pack design and testing, configuration specification development, product integration activities, and issue investigation and resolution support.

Employee will work with Allison distributors and OEM customers to understand release process requirements and develop and implement plans to maximize compliance to OEM requirements.

Employee will work to keep current with Allison and industry technical developments. Employee will also recognize any regulatory or competitive information during the course of doing business and transfer this information to the appropriate Allison organizations.

Employee will be responsible for communicating future Allison products and features, as well as any defined implementation requirements. OEM and end-user requirements will also need to be communicated to appropriate departments within Allison Transmission.

Key Performance Measures:
  • Development of in-depth knowledge of Allison Transmission Off-Highway Products and their application
  • Development of in-depth knowledge of off-highway mining, oil field services, other off-highway equipment vocations
  • Development of strong customer and Allison Transmission multi-functional team business relationships and assist in meeting business goals
  • Help lead successful integration and optimization of Allison Transmission Products into customer equipment and vehicles
  • Actively support identification, development and integration of new product features and functionality
