Job summary

Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America (PECNA) seeks a Sr. Quality Lab Engineer to lead laboratory analyses supporting the Gigafactory’s high-speed manufacturing of lithium-ion cells.

You will drive root-cause analysis, material characterization, and process improvements to ensure top-tier battery quality. Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in engineering or lab roles, experience with chromatography/ICP/SEM-EDS/FTIR/TGA, and a strong foundation in quality tools and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Materials Engineering or similar.
• MS or PhD in a related engineering discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide rapid response laboratory analysis for production support and root cause analysis.
• Conduct chemical/materials analysis to improve processes and resolve production issues.
• Perform failure analysis on battery cells and support multiple teams with data-driven insights.
• Utilize analytical instruments to support quality and process improvement initiatives.
• Assist in reducing defects and improving battery performance through data evaluation.
