Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Goleta, CA is seeking a Staff Quality Engineer to drive quality excellence from early design through production for a new space program. You will lead quality audits, shape the program quality plan, and ensure rigorous processes across suppliers and manufacturing teams.

The role requires U.S. citizenship, a STEM degree, and strong experience with AS9100/ISO9001, risk management, and DFMEA/PFMEA.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field.
Deep knowledge of QMS (AS9100/ISO9001) including inspection plans and First Article inspection (AS9102).
Robust proficiency in risk management (DFMEA/PFMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
Ability to travel for supplier-site visits, audits, or project support.

Responsibilities

Lead quality audits and inspections for emerging IR technology to assess TRL/MRL status.
Develop and maintain the program quality plan meeting AS9100 and contractual requirements.
Facilitate Design FMEA and translate findings into Process FMEAs for manufacturing readiness.
Define advanced gauging, fixtures, and inspection methods for prototype validation.
Analyze quality data, build KPI dashboards, and drive root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
