Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Goleta, CA is seeking a Staff Quality Engineer to drive quality excellence from early design through production for a new space program. You will lead quality audits, shape the program quality plan, and ensure rigorous processes across suppliers and manufacturing teams.

The role requires U.S. citizenship, a STEM degree, and strong experience with AS9100/ISO9001, risk management, and DFMEA/PFMEA.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field.
• Deep knowledge of QMS (AS9100/ISO9001) including inspection plans and First Article inspection (AS9102).
• Robust proficiency in risk management (DFMEA/PFMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
• Ability to travel for supplier-site visits, audits, or project support.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality audits and inspections for emerging IR technology to assess TRL/MRL status.
• Develop and maintain the program quality plan meeting AS9100 and contractual requirements.
• Facilitate Design FMEA and translate findings into Process FMEAs for manufacturing readiness.
• Define advanced gauging, fixtures, and inspection methods for prototype validation.
• Analyze quality data, build KPI dashboards, and drive root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
