Job summary

Storable Marine seeks a Senior Quality Engineer to drive the quality of our Marine software platform. You will own test strategy, automation, API and data validation, and work with product, engineering, and design to ship reliable software in a fast-paced, AI‑assisted environment.

You’ll mentor junior engineers, collaborate across teams, and help define quality metrics while working onsite at our Seattle, WA office three days per week. All applicants must be US authorized.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering experience.
• Strong test strategy, exploratory testing, regression planning, release readiness, defect investigation, and risk-based validation skills.
• Experience building or maintaining automated tests using at least one modern test automation framework.
• Experience validating APIs, integrations, application data, and business-critical workflows.
• Ability to use SQL to investigate data issues, validate expected behavior, and support defect analysis.
• Working familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, source control workflows, and deployment validation.
• Practical use of AI-assisted tools in engineering or QA workflows, with the judgment to evaluate and improve AI-generated output.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to break down ambiguous quality risks into clear, executable validation steps.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain quality risks, test strategy, defects, trade-offs, and release recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, and raise the quality bar for other engineers.
• Must be able to reliably work on-site at our Seattle, WA office three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Deliver incremental value within an Agile SDLC to improve product quality.
• Clarify requirements with cross-functional teams and shape testable stories.
• Own test strategy across manual, automated, API, and data validation.
• Build and maintain API automation for service behavior and data contracts.
• Use SQL to validate and troubleshoot application data.
• Collaborate with CI/CD and GitHub/GitLab pipelines for release readiness.
• Identify gaps in testability and automation and help close them.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and participate in stand-ups and design reviews.
