Job summary

Webasto Americas is seeking a Quality Engineer to act as the primary plant contact for quality topics from project launch through series production. You will lead responses to product safety incidents, coordinate containment, investigations and follow-up actions, and support customers with site visits as needed.

The role requires a strong background in the 8D methodology, root-cause analysis, and APQP/PPAP processes, with experience driving corrective actions across teams and customer portals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field; automotive quality experience preferred.
• 5+ years of quality experience; senior level when applicable.
• Experience leading product safety incident responses: investigation, containment, actions.
• Strong knowledge of the 8D methodology and root-cause tools.
• Customer-facing quality experience, including site support at manufacturing locations.
• Experience navigating customer quality portals and driving corrective actions.
• Exposure to APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, capability studies, statistics, and QMS.
• Auditing compliance and driving corrective actions through completion.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary plant contact for quality topics from launch to series production.
• Lead response to product safety incidents with cross-functional coordination.
• Manage customer complaints and quality claims using structured problem solving.
• Conduct internal/external process audits to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
• Create and maintain control plans, test instructions, and quality docs.
• Coordinate APQP, PPAP, sampling, testing, and product/process releases.
• Monitor quality targets and analyze data to reduce defects and costs.
• Support customers at manufacturing locations and travel as needed.
