Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead investigations of nonconforming products using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC).
• Perform root cause analysis and implement CAPA.
• Review drawings, specifications, and processes to ensure quality requirements.
• Lead internal and customer audits and support external regulatory audits.
• Generate and present KPIs for the site (scrap, rework, defects, first pass yield, audits).
• Analyze quality metrics and data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Develop FAI packages per AS9102 and control plans; support NPI activities.

Role Overview

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems that ensure our products meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This role provides technical leadership in quality assurance, root cause analysis, process improvement, and compliance with aerospace quality standards. Location: San Marcos, TX. Onsite work required. Travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in compliance with AS9100, FAA, customer, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead investigations of nonconforming products using structured problem‑solving methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC, etc.).
• Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing processes, and inspection plans to ensure quality requirements are achieved.
• Lead internal and customer audits while supporting external regulatory audits.
• Generate, manage, and present Key Process Indicators (KPIs) for the site, including scrap/rework/repair rates, Pareto by defects, repeat defects per unit, first pass yield, escapes, and audit findings.
• Analyze quality metrics, process capability, and statistical data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop inspection methods and first‑article inspection (FAI) packages in accordance with AS9102, and control plans.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) activities through APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and process validation where applicable.
• Review material review board (MRB) dispositions and support concession/deviation processes.
• Mentor junior quality engineers and inspectors while promoting a culture of quality excellence.
• Travel up to 20%.

Required Qualifications

• University degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace regulatory requirements.
• Experience with GD&T, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated experience leading root‑cause investigations and corrective action activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NADCAP requirements.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with PFMEA, control plans, APQP, and Lean manufacturing principles.
• Working knowledge of SAP, AS9100, and the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

Salary

Salary range: $86,800 - $165,200 USD.
