Job summary

Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress and seeks a Senior Quality Engineer to own the compute box build quality from incoming material to shipment. You will set inspection standards, control plans, and disposition processes, and drive defects to root cause with engineering and suppliers.

You will write PFMEA and control plans, define sampling for PCBAs, harnesses, and box builds, and own NCR and MRB processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
• 6+ years in manufacturing quality, NPI quality, or supplier quality on electronic or electromechanical hardware (PCBA, box build, harnesses).
• Compute, ECU, or electronics box-build quality in automotive, autonomous vehicle, robotics, or aerospace programs.
• Set up quality on a new line or new product: control plans, inspection plans, and disposition process.
• Fluency in PFMEA, control plans, 8D, 5-Why, and fishbone as working tools.
• Ownership of an MRB or nonconformance disposition process.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and GD&T, schematics, and BOMs to write inspection criteria.

Responsibilities

• Write the control plan and PFMEA for compute box assembly and update with design changes.
• Set incoming inspection for compute box material and define sampling plans and acceptance criteria.
• Define in-process and outgoing inspection criteria and evidence logging.
• Hold the release gate; ensure every unit passes before shipping.
• Own NCR intake, containment, MRB disposition, and rework instructions.
• Drive root cause and corrective action with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Own supplier quality for compute box components.
• Define serialization and traceability for build history retrieval.
• Define quality metrics: first-pass yield, defects per unit, escape rate.
• Collaborate with manufacturing test engineering to cover inspection and test.
• Provide feedback to design reviews on manufacturability and inspectability.
• Build documentation backbone for company quality management system.
