Job summary

Macdonald & Company seeks an experienced Quality Control Manager to oversee QA/QC on a major construction project in San Antonio, Texas. You will ensure all work, materials, and documentation meet contract requirements and quality standards while coordinating with project teams and inspectors.

The role requires a strong background in construction QA/QC, interpretation of complex drawings, and a proactive approach to preventing deficiencies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of construction experience with demonstrated quality control/assurance leadership.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of plans, specs, materials, inspection procedures, and building codes.
• Experience managing quality documentation, deficiency tracking, and corrective actions.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil, or MEP drawings.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the project's Quality Control Plan (QCP).
• Oversee daily quality control inspections ensuring compliance with drawings, specs, and contract requirements.
• Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections for construction activities.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, testing reports, and inspection records.
• Coordinate material testing, special inspections, third-party inspections, and field testing.
• Identify, document, and track nonconforming work and corrective actions through resolution.
• Maintain quality control logs, daily reports, checklists, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with PMs, superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and client reps to resolve issues.
• Verify corrective work meets project requirements before acceptance.
• Participate in meetings, quality reviews, and progress inspections.
• Monitor subcontractor performance for quality compliance.
• Support project closeout, punch lists, final inspections, as-built docs, and turnover packages.
• Promote proactive quality culture focused on prevention and improvement.
