Job summary

Grid Structures, a division of Southland Steel, is seeking a QC Inspector in Amite, LA to ensure products meet established quality standards throughout production. You will perform dimensional checks, read blueprints and welding symbols, measure with calipers and gauges, and communicate findings to supervisors to drive corrective action.

This role requires at least five years of heavy fabrication inspection experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy structural fabrication inspection.
• Must read blueprints and welding symbols.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of shop mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional checks of detail parts to ensure proper installation.
• Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
• Measure product dimensions using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
• Read blueprints and determine specs, inspection/testing procedures, and measuring instruments.
• Mark items with grade or acceptance-rejection status.
• Notify supervisors of production problems and recommend corrective actions.
