Job description

Genesis10 is seeking a Senior QA Engineer for a 10-month hybrid contract position with a client in Columbus, OH. Our target pay rate is between $55.00-$60.00 per hour on our W2. Candidates ready and able to work on our W2 are encouraged to apply.

This is an onsite position in Columbus, OH, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience with data-related testing projects, including bulk data validation, SQL, databases, ETL, Excel logic, and programmatic IDEs (Visual Studio). Experience in the Banking or Finance industry, specifically with Collections, Credit Card, Lending, is helpful.

Job Description:

The Manual QA Tester plays a critical role in verifying data integrity during an enterprise system conversion project. The candidate must be a self-starter capable of working from various requirements to craft test plans and cases that ensure comprehensive coverage of all business system flows. Effective communication, including active participation in planning and status meetings, is vital to maintain project cadence. Regular updates (typically daily) are required to keep impacted teams aligned. The candidate will work closely with developers, business analysts, other QA testers, and stakeholders, requiring clear and concise communication.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform manual verification and validation of large volumes of data at rest and in transit.
2. Document test cases and track outcomes using company-approved testing tools.
3. Manage workload, prioritize tasks, and deliver reliably.
4. Report defects and follow through on fixes using Azure DevOps.
5. Create SQL queries to manage test data and verify outputs.
6. Adapt to changing timelines and business needs, ensuring data accuracy during migration.
7. Collaborate within a cross-functional team environment.
8. Work with systems lacking a user interface, such as running/scheduling jobs, checking logs, executing APIs with Insomnia, etc.
9. Demonstrate problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
10. Participate in off-hour production releases in a support capacity.

Requirements:

1. Strong willingness and ability to learn and take initiative.
2. Proficiency with Windows operating systems.
3. Experience in database testing.
4. Mid-to-high level SQL proficiency.
5. Mid-to-high level Excel skills.
6. Experience with a programmatic IDE.
7. Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
8. Proactive and initiative-taking.
9. Team-oriented and collaborative.
10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with curiosity.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Financial industry experience, especially in collections, commercial loans, credit cards, and installment loans.
2. Familiarity with Python code (reading/modifying existing code).
3. Experience with file transfer testing.
4. Experience using Visual Studio Code.
