Job summary

The French's Food Company, a unit of McCormick & Company, is seeking a QA Technician III - Microbiologist for our Springfield, MO plant. This full-time position reports to the QA Manager and focuses on microbiological testing of finished goods, environmental swabs, COA generation, and adherence to GLP.

You will perform analyses with plates, VIDAS, autoclaves, and HPLC, interpret data, calibrate equipment, participate in proficiency testing, and support GMP audits.

Qualifications

• College coursework in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, etc. (or 3 years’ experience in a laboratory).
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Color vision required; ability to detect color differences daily.
• Attention to detail in evaluative judgments from factual data.
• Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs microbiological analysis of finished products as required by SAP inspection plans.
• Test plant environmental and hygiene swabs; assist with COA generation.
• Use test methods and instrumentation (agar plates, Petrifilm, VIDAS, autoclaves).
• Prepare media for microbiological testing and verify media pH.
• Record results in SAP/SharePoint/Neogen Analytics with accuracy.
• Generate COAs for industrial customers based on shipped requests.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Participate in proficiency testing and GMP-related audits.
• Backup as QA Analytical Technician for raw and finished goods testing.
• Coordinate quarantine and quality notifications; communicate results to Operations.
