Job summary

Moog in Buffalo, NY seeks a Sr. Inspector to lead First Piece and First Article inspections for complex aerospace manifolds and prismatic parts in an AS9100 environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; ability to follow English work instructions.
• Minimum of 5 years of quality inspection experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
• Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with AS9100 quality management requirements and AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify process risks and drive corrective actions.
• Experience using precision measurement equipment and advanced inspection technologies.

Responsibilities

• Plan, perform, and document First Piece and First Article Inspections per AS9100/AS9102 for complex aerospace components.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes, setups, tooling, fixturing, inspection methods, and operator readiness to ensure process effectiveness.
• Conduct inspections and layouts of varying complexity to verify product conformity.
• Utilize metrology equipment, CMMs, scanners, and precision measurement devices for dimensional inspections.
• Interpret drawings and GD&T to validate compliance with customer and internal requirements.
• Train and mentor operators on inspection techniques and GD&T interpretation.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Production, and Engineering to resolve quality concerns and drive improvements.
• Review and support approval of new tooling/fixturing to ensure readiness and compliance.
• Assist with audits and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions across operations.
• Apply SPC and control charts to monitor process performance.
