Job summary

Watu is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join a squad as the senior technical authority on quality. You will own test architecture, performance testing, contract testing, and complex integration surfaces, while mentoring others across the QA chapter.

You report to the squad’s Tech Lead and sit in the QA Chapter for standards, tooling, and methodologies. This is a senior IC role, not a management position, with a focus on technical depth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of QA engineering experience in software product environments, with a track record of owning test strategy for a complex domain.
• Strong automation engineering skills with production-grade test code in Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Depth in REST API testing, contract testing, integration test design, HTTP semantics, and JSON schema validation.
• Experience with performance and load testing, interpreting results and driving engineering actions.
• Mentor capabilities and ability to represent QA practices beyond a single squad.

Responsibilities

• Attend all squad ceremonies as a full member of the squad.
• Define acceptance criteria with Product Owner before each sprint.
• Own test architecture and test pyramid design for your domain.
• Lead performance and load testing and establish baselines.
• Own the Definition of Done quality gate for the squad.
