Job summary

Textron Aviation in Kansas seeks a qualified engineer to review, evaluate, and inspect Textron Aviation manufactured aircraft and parts, issuing airworthiness approvals, licenses, and permits per ODA and Production Certificate authorizations. You will drive a quality-focused environment and lead others toward continuous improvement.

You will interact with FAA and customers, apply knowledge of airworthiness, MRB and QAB systems, and may qualify for additional ODA codes as needed to support

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in engineering or related technical field with 5 years of related experience.
• Alternative: aviation/business/related technical degree with 10 years of related experience OR related aviation technology degree or A&P license with 10 years of related experience.
• Ability to obtain ODA airworthiness function codes; A&P certification preferred.
• Five+ years of experience with flight releases, certification, conformity, and airworthiness approvals.

Responsibilities

• Utilize blueprints, specifications, reports, documents, type design information, and other engineering data to determine configuration of aircraft and parts.
• Communicate with FAA, customers, foreign authorities and all supervision levels on configuration for registration or certification.
• Have substantial knowledge of pre and post Airworthiness activities affecting configurations.
• Know FAA regulations, guidance, and acceptable means of compliance for certification.
• Proficient in business applications to support decisions impacting company goals.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of flight operations and flight release processes for assigned areas.
• Knowledge of MRB system functions for managing non-conforming material and processes.
• Knowledge of defect reporting, disclosures, and QAB systems related to assigned areas.
• Ability to lead an area with minimal disruption and interface with all levels; autonomous decision making.
• Represent the organization as a specialist in contracts and projects; interact with senior customers.
• May qualify for additional ODA Function Codes as justified by business needs.
