Job summary

JR Technologies is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join our Engineering team. This hands-on role focuses on building robust test frameworks, owning end-to-end automation, and deploying AI-assisted tooling in daily work.

The position supports testing across UI, API, integration, and performance domains for mission-critical airline/travel‑tech systems. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of QA automation experience, strong scripting skills, and hands-on experience with modern frameworks like Cypress

Qualifications

• 4+ years hands-on QA/testing with a strong automation focus.
• Proficiency in at least two of Cypress, Playwright, Selenium with production-grade suites.
• API testing experience with Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Performance testing experience with JMeter.
• Working knowledge of SQL and data validation.
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with JIRA or Azure Test Plans for defect tracking and test management.
• Experience in Agile / Scrum environments.
• Scripting in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Java.
• Hands-on experience with at least one AI-assisted tool in a real context and ability to discuss usage and limits.
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated output and adopt AI tooling as it matures.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks across UI, API, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Maintain automation test data and ensure test environments are reliable and current.

JR Technologies is looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is a hands‑on individual contributor role for someone who operates at the intersection of automation engineering and quality, someone who builds robust test frameworks, owns automation end‑to‑end, and is actively deploying AI‑assisted tooling as a genuine part of their daily work. We operate in airline retailing, distribution, and payment processing, which means quality is mission‑critical. Our systems process real transactions for airlines and travel sellers globally, and the bar for reliability is high.

Engagement:

• We are considering candidates based in Europe only.
• For candidates based in Greece, both a regular employment contract and a contractor engagement are possible.
• For candidates based in other European countries, the position is available on a contractor basis only.
• Candidates based outside Europe will not be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Test Automation

• Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks covering UI, API, integration, and end‑to‑end scenarios
• Own the full automation lifecycle: strategy, tool selection, execution, reporting, and ongoing maintenance
• Write and maintain test suites using Cypress, Playwright, and/or comparable modern frameworks
• Conduct thorough API testing using Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI tooling
• Develop and execute performance and load tests using JMeter
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
• Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents; provide quality‑focused feedback early in the SDLC
• Develop detailed, well‑structured test plans and test cases
• Maintain automation test data and ensure test environments are reliable and current

AI Tooling & Workflow Automation

• Deploy and manage AI‑assisted testing tools in real QA workflows: test case generation, defect analysis, regression optimisation, and script maintenance
• Evaluate, pilot, and embed AI‑powered tools that create measurable improvements in test coverage and team productivity
• Apply prompt engineering for test design, documentation, and automation tasks
• Identify where AI tooling delivers genuine value and where it falls short - and communicate both clearly

Quality Engineering & Process

• Execute automated and exploratory tests; manage defect logs through to fix validation
• Perform regression testing and maintain regression test suites
• Track and report quality metrics: defect densities, open defect status, test coverage
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to shift quality left in the SDLC
• Mentor junior QA engineers on automation standards, tooling, and best practices
• Stay current with emerging testing tools, frameworks, and methodologies

Requirements:

Experience & Skills

• 4+ years of hands‑on QA / software testing experience, with a strong automation focus
• Proven proficiency in at least two of: Cypress, Playwright, Selenium — with real, production‑grade test suites to demonstrate
• Solid experience with API testing tools: Postman, Swagger / OpenAPI
• Experience with JMeter or comparable performance / load testing tools
• Working knowledge of SQL and data validation
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar)
• Familiarity with defect tracking and test management: JIRA, Azure Test Plans
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
• Scripting proficiency in at least one of: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Java
• Personal, hands‑on experience with at least one AI‑assisted tool in a real work context (e.g. GitHub Copilot, AI test generation, LLM‑assisted defect analysis) — able to speak to what you used it for and what the limits were
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate AI‑generated output — not just consume it
• Willingness and aptitude to adopt, evaluate, and help shape AI tooling as it matures within a team

Nice to Have

• Experience in airline, travel technology, or payment processing
• Security testing exposure
• Experience with contract testing or API contract validation
• Cloud platform familiarity (Azure preferred)
• ISTQB or equivalent QA certification
• Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber or equivalent)
