Job summary

Cognizant is hiring a Senior QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable automation solutions for web and API testing within the Banking & Financial Services domain. You will work with a cross-functional Quality Engineering team to ensure high-quality software delivery.

The role emphasizes hybrid work with 2–3 days in a Cognizant office in Charlotte, NC, and collaboration across DevOps, product owners, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building and maintaining Java-based automation frameworks for enterprise apps.
• Hands-on expertise with Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, and REST Assured for UI and API testing.
• Experience with TestNG or JUnit, OOP principles, and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Solid knowledge of software testing methodologies: functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, and API testing.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Git).
• Strong SQL and database validation skills across backend systems.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and with distributed teams.
• Proven ability to analyze defects, troubleshoot failures, and perform root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks for web and API testing.
• Create and execute automated test suites for functional, regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop reusable automation components to improve coverage, efficiency, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test strategies and validate requirements.
• Integrate automation solutions into CI/CD pipelines and support release validation.
