Job summary

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in its Information Technology department to advance Python-based power system tools. You will work on data processing, modeling, and visualization, with AI-augmented programming practices and mentoring responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
• 3+ years DevOps and Python-based solutions.
• Advanced Python with NumPy, Pandas and Matplotlib.
• Experience integrating APIs across diverse platforms.
• Data modeling and data transformation experience.
• Interest in power system simulation methods.
• Experience with AI-augmented development tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support Python-based tools for power system simulation, data processing, and visualization.
• Lead the integration of Python APIs and scripts from tools into internal workflows.
• Develop automated testing, deployment, and monitoring solutions.
• Collaborate with business owners to elicit system requirements.
• Support DevOps pipelines for secure software delivery.
• Mentor staff in AI-augmented programming practices.
