Job summary

EasyPost is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable Python-based systems supporting carrier integrations. You will lead complex initiatives and mentor peers while driving reliability and performance in a distributed environment.

You will partner with product managers and engineers to translate requirements into architecture, APIs, and maintainable code, contributing to architecture, testing, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert-level Python development in production environments.
• Strong experience designing and building REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong experience debugging and troubleshooting complex production issues.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience writing automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and Jira/Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex software systems and integrations with minimal oversight.
• Drive technical decision-making and contribute to architecture discussions across multiple services and systems.
• Break down ambiguous problems into clear technical solutions and execution plans.
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
• Participate in on-call rotations and diagnose production issues.
• Improve monitoring, observability, and system reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical designs.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and performance tests.
