Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a backend-focused engineer to deliver end-to-end software solutions in a fast-paced environment. You will design, implement, test, and operate systems while mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical decisions.

The role requires hands-on experience with Python, Django or Flask, and strong knowledge of CI/CD, observability, and modern distributed architectures. Cloud exposure (AWS/GCP/Azure) and Terraform are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong foundation in programming concepts and data structures.
• Experience with backend development using Python and frameworks such as Django or Flask.
• Understanding of web services and SOA principles.
• Exposure to Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Interest in large-scale, high-performance distributed systems.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Hands-on experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with low-latency in-memory databases such as Redis.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems such as SQS/SNS/Kafka/RabbitMQ/Pulsar.
• Experience implementing CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
• Contributions to open-source projects or participation in developer communities.
• Awareness of payment processing industry compliance or regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complete solutions across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations.
• Advise immediate management on project-level issues.
• Guide junior engineers.
• Operate with little day-to-day supervision.
• Make technical decisions based on internal conventions and industry best practices.
• Apply technical best practices to project decisions.
