Job summary

Technologent is seeking an experienced Python Backend Developer for an onsite Phoenix role. The candidate will design, develop, and scale backend services and APIs using Python frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, Django) and PostgreSQL.

The role emphasizes asynchronous processing, microservices, and robust testing within a 12+ month contract. You will work with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, and gain exposure to AI‑driven workflow automation while collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in Python backend development and software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including object‑oriented and asynchronous programming.
• Hands‑on experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services using Flask, FastAPI, or Django.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, including SQL queries, database design, and performance optimization.
• Experience with API integrations, authentication, error handling, logging, and backend troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud‑based deployments.
• Exposure to workflow orchestration frameworks such as Temporal, Apache Airflow, or Celery.
• Familiarity with WebSockets/Socket.IO for real‑time communication.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests (pytest/unittest).
• Git, PRs, branching strategies, and collaborative code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications, services, and APIs using Python.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs using Flask, FastAPI, and Django.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and data access.
• Integrate backend with internal/external systems, ensuring secure authentication and robust error handling.
• Implement asynchronous processing and distributed workflows to support high‑volume apps.
• Develop and maintain workflow orchestration with Temporal, Airflow, or Celery.
• Enable real‑time communication using WebSockets/Socket.IO.
• Write automated unit and integration tests to ensure quality and reliability.
• Participate in Git workflows, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Support containerization, deployment, and release management with Docker/Kubernetes.
