Job summary

DeepSea is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, build, and optimize Python/FastAPI services. You will contribute to AI‑driven development across the SDLC, refactor existing backends, and ensure scalable, reliable platforms used in shipping and vessel operations.

The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, working with AWS-based cloud services, and advancing containerized deployments in a hybrid Athens-based setup. English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, CS, or related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on backend development experience.
• Strong experience with Python (3.8+) and FastAPI.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Python using FastAPI.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product owners for scalable backend solutions.
• Work in an AI-driven SDLC including analysis, planning, development, code review and testing.
• Refactor/rewrite existing services and develop new Python-based services.
• Ensure high performance, reliability, and maintainability of backend components.
• Write unit tests and participate in code reviews.
• Work with relational databases, caching layers, and message brokers.
• Support container orchestration (EKS) migration and documentation of services.
