Job summary

Amazon Leo DevOps in Redmond, WA seeks a Sr. Lab Engineer to own the photovoltaic test lab supporting solar array development. The role focuses on lab operations, precise calibration, data integrity, and creating reliable test setups for senior scientists.

You will manage calibration schedules, maintain documentation, mentor lab staff, and drive process improvements across the lab while partnering with researchers to translate test needs into actionable setups and results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 6+ years operating precision lab test equipment in high‑precision environments.
• Experience calibration, preventive maintenance, and uptime management.
• Experience designing test fixtures and data acquisition setups for complex measurements.
• Maintain clean, traceable, and well‑organized test data and documentation.
• Troubleshooting complex lab equipment to root cause.

Responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day operation of photovoltaic test lab, including equipment calibration schedules and lab readiness.
• Collaborate with senior scientists to scope test requirements and design setups, fixturing, and data collection methods.
• Provide direct technical feedback on proposed test setups and equipment choices.
• Manage concurrent test requests across multiple scientists and programs, communicating status and risks clearly.
• Own data integrity and traceability for all test outputs with version control and calibration records.
• Develop and maintain test procedures, work instructions, and lab documentation; train other lab staff.
• Drive lab‑wide process improvements and mentor other lab engineers.
