The ideal candidate has 5+ years in purchasing within manufacturing and strong Excel/ERP/MRP skills to optimize supplier performance and cost controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain within manufacturing.
• Experience with CNC machining, metal fabrication, or custom manufactured products.
• Proficient in Excel, ERP/MRP and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Manage supplier relationships for custom components ensuring quality, cost and delivery targets.
• Serve as escalation point for supplier issues using machining/metal fabrication knowledge.
• Lead sourcing, negotiation and procurement for complex components to save costs.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Planning to align capabilities.
• Analyze supplier performance, conduct reviews, and drive continuous improvement to mitigate risks.
• Provide mentorship to junior buyers and share procurement best practices.

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Purchasing Specialist to join a leading medical device manufacturing organization in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The Senior Purchasing Specialist will serve as a critical supply chain subject matter expert, leading vendor management initiatives, supporting complex sourcing activities, and ensuring the timely procurement of custom manufactured components to meet production and business objectives.

Responsibilities of the Senior Purchasing Specialist:

• Manage strategic supplier relationships for custom fabricated, machined, and production-critical components, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery performance targets are achieved
• Serve as the primary escalation point for supplier-related issues, utilizing technical knowledge of machining and metal fabrication processes to drive resolution and corrective actions
• Lead sourcing, negotiation, and procurement activities for complex components while identifying opportunities for cost savings and supply chain optimization
• Partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Planning teams to ensure supplier capabilities align with production and product requirements
• Analyze supplier performance metrics, conduct business reviews, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to mitigate supply chain risks
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers, acting as a subject matter expert in procurement best practices, supplier management, and manufacturing processes

Qualifications of the Senior Purchasing Specialist:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated expertise managing suppliers that support CNC machining, metal fabrication, or custom manufactured products
• Strong understanding of machining processes, manufacturing methods, and supplier quality principles
• Experience leading supplier negotiations, contract discussions, and performance improvement initiatives
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP/MRP systems, and cross-functional collaboration

Compensation for the Senior Purchasing Specialist includes:

• Salary range: $77,000 - $90,000
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans
