Job summary

Nexans in Charleston, SC is seeking a Senior Purchaser to lead local purchasing activities for subsea and land cable projects. You will develop purchasing strategies, manage supplier relations, and implement standard Nexans processes while coordinating with central purchasing teams.

The role demands strong negotiation, data-driven spend analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to meet site objectives and KPI targets. A Bachelor degree and 1–5 years in purchasing are expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in a relevant field.
1-5 years of purchasing experience.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Fluent in English, both verbal and written.

Very good Excel analysis skills.

Results oriented.
Preferably SAP and Ariba experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver purchasing strategies and savings in main categories.
Act as a link across functions and teams with accurate spend data and recommendations.
Oversee Local Site Purchasing and Local Vendor Management: reassessment of needs, RFI, RFQ, contract design, and CI plan.
Support category strategy definition in line with the group vision and site alignment.
Escalation point for PSS operations for the site (≤$50,000).
For purchases >$250,000, manage procurement strategies, contracts and agreements.
Implement Nexans processes and standard purchasing.
Drive transversal Group purchasing initiatives.
Identify and reduce purchasing risks and challenge needs definitions.
Lead negotiations to select best suppliers and manage contracts.
