Job summary

DXP is seeking a Senior Pump Mechanic in Arizona to repair, disassemble, inspect, and fabricate a variety of API centrifugal pumps and related rotating equipment. You will lead shop tasks, train junior mechanics, and ensure safe, compliant repairs while maintaining quality and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in pump repair, strong reading of drawings and API 610 knowledge, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in a pump repair shop or equivalent.
  • Experience repairing API/Engineered pumps and related rotating equipment.
  • In-depth understanding of API 610 and related standards.
  • Ability to read pump sections, machine drawings and OEM manuals.
  • Disassembly, inspection, and detailed reporting of repairs and replacements.
  • Safe use of hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydrostatic testing of parts and equipment.
  • Ability to read mechanical seal drawings and perform related testing.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Background check, physical, and drug test required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, disassemble, inspect, repair, paint, and package API centrifugal pumps and related rotating equipment.
  • Mentor and develop Pump Mechanic personnel to optimize manpower and compliance.
  • Monitor repair progress and guide shop personnel to complete repairs.
  • Serve as a senior tradesperson and set a positive leadership tone in the shop.
  • Interact with customers to demonstrate DXP cares about their business.
  • Assist the Supervisor in executing all work.

Summary:
The Senior Pump Mechanic will repair/fabricate a variety of centrifugal, gear, diaphragm, and reciprocating pumps, gear reducers and related rotating equipment, troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect and repair a variety of rotating equipment including centrifugal pumps (both single and multi-stage), gear pumps, reciprocating pumps and metering pumps, gear reducers, blowers (both vacuum and pressure), mechanical seals, and many other types of equipment.

Responsibilities of the Senior Pump Mechanic include, but are not limited to:

  • Receive, disassemble, inspect, repair, paint, package/prepare for shipment API centrifugal pumps as well as other related rotating equipment
  • Assist with training and developing Pump Mechanic personnel to ensure efficient use of manpower and compliance with customer requirements
  • Monitor progress of repairs and assign and guide shop personnel to complete those repairs
  • Serve as one of the most experienced tradesman in the shop
  • Set the positive leadership tone and behavior
  • Interact with customers in a positive way showing them how DXP cares about their business
  • Assist the Supervisor in the execution of all work

Qualifications of the Senior Pump Mechanic include, but are not limited to:

  • 10 + years of experience working in a pump repair shop facility with previous experience repairing API centrifugal pumps and other related rotating equipment prepared
  • Experience repairing API/Engineered pumps, creating details, and making technical decisions
  • In-depth understanding of API 610, and other applicable standards
  • Ability to read pump sectional, machine drawings, and OEM pump manuals
  • Disassembly, inspection, ability to write up a detailed rotating equipment report to all necessary repairs and or replacement parts needed, Ex: assembly prep, assembly, pneumatic pressure testing of assembled equipment, painting of finished repairand final inspection
  • Safely use hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydrostatic testing of parts and equipment
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical seal drawings, mechanical seal removal, installation, and pneumatic pressure testing preferred
  • Ability to work with multiple and competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to achieve results with minimal supervision
  • Background check, physical, and drug test required
