Job summary

DXP is seeking a Senior Pump Mechanic in Redmond, WA, to repair, inspect, and assemble a range of centrifugal and related pumps and equipment. The role requires extensive hands-on experience in pump repair shops and a strong grasp of API standards.

The position emphasizes training teammates, guiding repairs, and maintaining high-quality workmanship while engaging with customers and supporting supervisory leadership.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in a pump repair shop, including API centrifugal pumps.
  • Experience repairing API/engineered pumps and making technical decisions.
  • Solid understanding of API 610 and related standards.
  • Ability to read pump sectional drawings and OEM manuals.
  • Ability to document repairs and prepare detailed equipment reports.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, disassemble, inspect, repair, paint and package API centrifugal pumps and related equipment.
  • Assist in training and developing pump mechanics for efficient work.
  • Monitor repair progress and assign shop personnel accordingly.
  • Serve as an experienced tradesperson and lead by example.
  • Interact with customers to demonstrate DXP care for their business.
  • Assist the supervisor in the execution of all work.

Summary:
The Pump Mechanic will repair/fabricate a variety of centrifugal, gear, diaphragm, and reciprocating pumps, gear reducers and related rotating equipment, troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect and repair a variety of rotating equipment including centrifugal pumps (both single and multi-stage), gear pumps, reciprocating pumps and metering pumps, gear reducers, blowers (both vacuum and pressure), mechanical seals, and many other types of equipment.

Responsibilities of theSenior Pump Mechanicinclude, but are not limited to:

  • Receive, disassemble, inspect, repair, paint, package/prepare for shipment API centrifugal pumps as well as other related rotating equipment
  • Assist with training and developing Pump Mechanic personnel to ensure efficient use of manpower and compliance with customer requirements
  • Monitor progress of repairs and assign and guide shop personnel to complete those repairs
  • Serve as one of the most experienced tradesman in the shop
  • Set the positive leadership tone and behavior
  • Interact with customers in a positive way showing them how DXP cares about their business
  • Assist the Supervisor in the execution of all work

Qualifications of theSenior Pump Mechanicinclude, but are not limited to:

  • 10 + years of experience working in a pump repair shop facility with previous experience repairing API centrifugal pumps and other related rotating equipment prepared
  • Experience repairing API/Engineered pumps, creating details, and making technical decisions
  • In-depth understanding of API 610, and other applicable standards
  • Ability to read pump sectional, machine drawings, and OEM pump manuals
  • Disassembly, inspection, ability to write up a detailed rotating equipment report to all necessary repairs and or replacement parts needed, Ex: assembly prep, assembly, pneumatic pressure testing of assembled equipment, painting of finished repairand final inspection
  • Safely use hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydrostatic testing of parts and equipment
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical seal drawings, mechanical seal removal, installation, and pneumatic pressure testing preferred
  • Ability to work with multiple and competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to achieve results with minimal supervision
  • Background check, physical, and drug test required

Additional Information:

  • Pay: $80,000 - $100,000/yr, DOE
  • Physical Demand:Ability to lift up to 90 lbs.
  • Working Conditions:Must be able to work in a shop environment without AC and heat, with possible exposure to dirt, heat, and noise.
