Plona Partners is seeking a Public Relations Manager to shape the voice of a prestigious AmLaw law firm. This hybrid role blends in-office collaboration with remote work, guiding litigation and tax practices in national media campaigns and thought leadership initiatives.

You will partner with attorneys, leadership, and journalists to translate complex legal developments into compelling media narratives, elevating the firm’s reputation across business and legal outlets.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of public relations or media relations experience within a law firm or professional services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic PR campaigns that elevate the firm's visibility across key practice areas
  • Lead media relations for nationally recognized Litigation and Tax practices
  • Build and maintain relationships with leading journalists across legal, business, energy, technology, and trade publications
  • Identify newsworthy client matters, legal developments, and industry trends that create meaningful media opportunities
  • Pitch compelling stories, attorney commentary, and thought leadership to national media outlets
  • Prepare attorneys for interviews, media appearances, podcasts, and speaking engagements
  • Draft press releases, media statements, talking points, award submissions, and firm announcements
  • Manage the firm's social media presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, and X while maintaining an integrated editorial calendar
  • Promote earned media, major victories, attorney achievements, and firm initiatives across digital platforms
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Brand, Business Development, and firm leadership on strategic communications initiatives
  • Monitor breaking news and position attorneys to provide timely market commentary
  • Measure campaign effectiveness through media analytics, reporting, and performance metrics
  • Manage external public relations agencies and strategic communications vendors

Salary Range

  • Washington, DC: $148,000--$222,000
  • California: $148,000--$222,000

The Opportunity

This is far more than a traditional media relations role. You'll lead strategic public relations initiatives for nationally recognized Litigation and Tax practices while partnering with attorneys, marketing leadership, and journalists across legal, business, energy, and technology media. From breaking news to landmark litigation, major transactions, industry trends, and thought leadership campaigns, you'll help position attorneys as trusted voices while protecting and strengthening the firm's global reputation.

We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of public relations or media relations experience within a law firm or professional services organization
  • Established relationships with journalists across national business, legal, energy, technology, and trade media
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities
  • Strong understanding of how sophisticated law firms operate and the nuances of legal public relations
  • Experience developing proactive media strategies and managing high-profile communications initiatives
  • Background working with media platforms such as Meltwater, Muck Rack, Cision, Roxhill, or similar tools
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Executive presence with the confidence to advise partners and senior leadership
  • Bachelor's degree required
