Overview:

Manage media/PR/reputational issues across major regions and/or business lines of the bank; responsible for communicating M&T Bank’s policies, philosophies, products, programs, and accomplishments to external stakeholders within the communities in those regions/business lines.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage all media contacts within the region or assigned business(es). Execute multiple high-profile public relations campaigns and communications projects simultaneously in coordination with bank executives, regional management, and the Marketing & Communications Division.
• Work with internal and external teams to develop, coordinate, and implement public relations & communications plans for bank-related products, services, issues, activities, decisions, policies, personnel, etc., within the region. Develop messages, strategies, and tactics for various target audiences, including national and financial media, trade media, customers and prospects, influencers, and opinion leaders.
• Identify proactive media opportunities and situations that could adversely impact the bank’s reputation. Coordinate strategies and tactics to promote and protect M&T Bank.
• Advise management on communication strategies and tactics when issues, policies, or decisions could impact the bank’s reputation. Develop media responses and communications materials accordingly.
• Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders within the bank, industry, community, and media.
• Monitor, measure, and report media coverage of the bank. Evaluate the success of media placements in building reputation and mitigating crises, and use insights to inform future outreach strategies.
• Manage multiple proactive and reactive media, PR, and reputational issues across major regions of the bank.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's Degree

Minimum of 7 years relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a strategic PR role

M&T Bank offers a competitive, fair, and market-informed pay structure. The salary range for this position is $122,746.73 - $204,577.88 annually (USD). Compensation will depend on the candidate's knowledge, skills, and experience.
