Job summary

Amazon in the Pacific Northwest seeks a seasoned Principal for Public Policy to represent AWS before state and local policymakers. You will help shape policy affecting cloud adoption and data center infrastructure, coordinating with AWS teams to advance infrastructure expansion across the region.

You will lead advocacy, manage external consultants, and build coalitions with government, industry groups, and education sectors to promote AWS policy priorities in OR, WA, and nearby states.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant discipline such as Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, or Economic Development.
Extensive experience in public policy and advocacy on payments and financial services issues.
12+ years in public policy, government relations, or related fields.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute government affairs objectives and priorities for AWS in the Pacific Northwest, with focus on Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Alaska.
Lead advocacy on data center infrastructure policy in Oregon.
Identify policy opportunities/threats; craft positions; coordinate external advocacy and outreach.
Facilitate meetings between AWS executives and policymakers, industry associations, and partners.
Leverage industry associations and manage outside consultants.
