Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) seeks a Supervising Public Health Adviser to lead disease intervention activities, coordinate with Public Health Advisors, and ensure accurate documentation in EMR and the STI registry MAVEN. The role supports policy, training, and program improvements across the Bureau of Public Health Clinics.

• Assure disease investigation and disease intervention activities are complete, timely, and documented in EMR and STI registry MAVEN with confidentiality compliance.
• Evaluate weekly/monthly health reports and recommend service improvements.
• Collaborate with BHHS to develop and revise service protocols and guidelines.
• Pursue relevant trainings and presentations to strengthen the Bureau’s mission.
• Support quality improvements, staff meetings, and training sessions for program goals.
• Oversee disease intervention activities by Public Health Advisors and advise on staff development or actions as needed.
• Foster clear communication within the agency and with external partners to meet client needs.
• Act as liaison between NYS providers and NYC Public Health Clinics for timely follow-up.
• Ensure staff receive required training and refreshers for accurate information delivery.
• Serve as acting Coordinator for Disease Intervention Activities in the Coordinator’s absence.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
