Job summary

Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) invites applications for a Public Benefits Specialist 4, Auditor/Job Coach. The PBS4 will lead auditing activities, guide staff, and ensure accurate eligibility decisions across cash, food, and medical assistance programs in Region 1.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Washington Administrative Code (WAC) and program policies used to determine eligibility.
• Ability to use computer systems to process cases and research information.
• Experience conducting audits, reviewing cases, and applying program rules.

Responsibilities

• Assign, coordinate, and monitor work of Public Benefits Specialist staff.
• Provide guidance on eligibility determinations and policy interpretation.
• Conduct audits and case reviews to ensure accuracy and identify error trends.
• Verify overpayments and complete referrals to Office of Financial Recovery.
• Coach and train staff to ensure program compliance and professional development.
• Review and improve procedures to maintain efficient workflows and service delivery.
• Support clients through application processes and assist with eligibility issues.
