Job summary

FINRA seeks a Principal Psychometrician for Market and Regulatory Services’ Credentialing, Registration, Education & Disclosure (CRED) to provide expert measurement services across the full lifecycle of examination programs. You will conduct psychometric analyses using CTT, Rasch, and IRT, while collaborating on test development, scoring, and data forensics.

The role requires a Master’s in a relevant field and at least three years in testing, with strong quantitative, communication, and software

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology or related field with psychometrics emphasis.
• At least 3 years’ testing industry experience or equivalent.
• Broad knowledge of measurement methodologies including job analysis and standard setting.
• Familiarity with CTT, Rasch and/or IRT.
• Strong quantitative skills and attention to detail under deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across varied measurement expertise levels.
• Proficiency with R/SPSS and Rasch/IRT software such as Winsteps, Xcalibre, Parscale.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine psychometric analyses for exams and continuing education programs.
• Lead measurement activities across job analysis, test spec validation, standard setting, and test security.
• Quality control scoring for computer-delivered and paper-based tests; contribute to testing system requirements.
• Serve as SME on assessment, psychometrics, and data analytics; use FINRA’s item banking system.
• Stay current with measurement theory; identify innovations to improve test delivery and security.
• Design and conduct ad hoc analyses with actionable insights for senior staff.
• Apply advanced analytics across the full lifecycle of examination program operations.
